NAMI CONNECTION WEB SITE

NAMI members share their knowledge and experiences, but this is not to be considered the same as professional advice or treatment.  Appropriate professionals should be consulted as needed.

NAMI Connection is a new national recovery support group program for people with mental illness that is being introduced over the next three years across the country. The support groups will be led by individuals who are in recovery themselves, and therefore have an in-depth understanding of what you are going through.

NAMI Connection support groups will meet weekly for 90 minutes, sometimes with more than one support group in a community.  These groups are designed to be flexible and casual without any set agenda, topic, or educational format.  Meetings will be guided by NAMI’s Principles of Support.

NAMI Connection is open to all adults with mental illness, regardless of their diagnosis.  Anyone who is challenged by mental illness can drop in to share feelings, thoughts, problems, or success stories to offer encouragement.

A local support group for the Alger / Marquette County area is starting August 4, 2007;      Saturdays - 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at the U.P. Commons Area (next to the children's Museum) - 129 West Baraga, Marquette, Michigan.
